I started doing ventriloquism like a lot of ventriloquists, as a kid. In my case, I was 14. I’ve always called myself an “on again, off again” ventriloquist (my term for a part-timer).
I did shows during my jr high and high school years, but then “life” happened and ventriloquism was put on the back burner.
I didn’t take up vent again until my late 30’s when I tried to build my own ventriloquist figure. It took some trial and error, but I finally was able to build one.
During this same time I met master figure builder Ray Guyll, and we became personal friends. Ray taught me how to build ventriloquist figures. I still build figures along with doing repairs and restoration work.
My main contribution to ventriloquism these days is being the webmaster and partner with Dan Willinger for the website Ventriloquist Central.
Dan and I met at the 2006 Vent Haven ConVENTion, came up with the idea of a website to showcase his ventriloquist figure collection and provide any and all kinds of information about the art of ventriloquism.
